July Favourites – Skin, hair and body …

According to the stats on WordPress, along with Empties and Disappointed Products, Favourite posts are the third most read posts on my blog – so someone must like them!

I thought I’d split the favourites up in to two this month as it has been a while and I’ve got a load of stuff! I’ve been pretty boring with everything I’ve been using recently – makeup, skincare and body-wise. Now that I’ve cleared up my hideous skin issues that I had about a month or so ago (I blame hospital, London pollution, anesthetics and a change in temperature) – more info on products used coming soon – everything has *touch wood* been ‘normal’. There are a few reoccurring products that you’ll get to see a few times over the next few posts, but that is just testament to how much I love and use them!

So, body care first …

1. Garnier Intensive 7 Days Ultra-Replenishing Lotion for Very Dry Skin ‎£2.43 Boots

WHY? Because it is cheap as chips and does the job perfectly. I don’t have overly dry skin normally, but having spent 4 days on the trot in the sea, the salt and sand dried my skin out a bit and this got it back to normal. It does contain mineral oil, but I’m not that bothered on my skin (I still wouldn’t use on kids skin though, or on anyone who has a real skin condition). It smells nice and surprisingly, it is fast-absorbing like it says. You can’t go wrong really!

2. Jergens Natural Glow Moisturiser Fair to Medium

WHY? Because, after so SO many cock-ups with the Dove Gradual Tanner and others of the same kind, I googled reviews and this popped up. Unfortunately, this isn’t available in the UK (unless you want to pay loads to import it via amazon.com – I got it on hols in the USA) – which makes me very sad as it is definitely the best gradual tanner I’ve ever used. I don’t tan much anymore after a history of skin cancer in my family, so this is fab for legs and feet. No streaks, lovely development of colour and natural looking on my ghostly tones! If any of my friends/family are off to the USA anytime soon, let me know!

3. Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash 500ml ‎£6.50 Boots

WHY? I love this body wash. Soap & Glory are the queen of body washes in my house. This one, rather pleasingly, doesn’t contain SLS, but you still get a gorgeous lather. The scent is of sweet lime but it is more zingy than sweet – I’m a huge lover of anything citrusy/fresh and this is perfect; I much prefer it to the standard S&G scent which I find really sweet and sickly. I know ‎£6.50 might seem like a lot, but I’ve been using this for about three weeks now, daily, and I’ve only used about a 1/3 of the bottle; I’ve a feeling Steve has been using it too …

Hair and perfume …

4. Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess 100ml £44.99 – this is the cheapest I can find it: http://www.theperfumeshop.com/Estee-Lauder/Bronze-Goddess/Eau-Fra%C3%AEche-Skinscent-for-her/p/27150EDTJU?gclid=CIz6u4SHlM4CFYOfGwodkV8NGQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

WHY? Because it is summer in a bottle! EL bring out Bronze Goddess every summer season and this is my forth bottle I think. They change the bottle design every year, but the scent stays the same – it is like an iconic summer smell to me. It has coconut milk, sandlewood, vanilla, lemon, orange, bergamot, magnolia and jasmine – it seriously is perfect. It is limited edition and when it has gone for the season, it’s gone. The scent sticks around much longer than I remember it doing a few years ago, so that’s an improvement, and I’ve had a few compliments whilst wearing it. Thoroughly recommended – get it while you can!

5. John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Creme Serum £6.99 Boots

WHY? Nostalgia …?! I remember using a tonne of JF Frizz Ease on my hair when I was a teenager – back then it just made my hair a greasy mess as I had no bloody clue what I was doing. Nowadays, I use about four pumps of this (my hair is VERY thick) on wet hair all the way from root to end and then blow-dry. It just calms the flyaways at the scalp and makes my very dry ends a bit less crazy. It’s not a desert island product, but I do notice when I don’t use it. I’ve also been using it on dry hair too after I’ve come home from the beach – the sea water makes the ends so so dry so it just adds a bit of nourishment before I get around to washing my hair again.

Skincare …

6. Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturiser with SPF30 £24.99£17.99 Amazon:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neutrogena-Rapid-Wrinkle-Repair-Ounce/dp/B004D2C57M

WHY? Because it is the perfect daily moisturiser with SPF30 Broad Spectrum sun protection that doesn’t give me spots. It sinks in well and doesn’t leave the skin white. It isn’t greasy or offensive in any way and I love it. Again, it is a product from America, but this one can be purchased on Amazon for a similar price to what I paid for it in the States. I am a bit obsessed with SPF as I’ve said, for precaution reasons, so having the ease of a daily moisturiser with a decent SPF in it already is just so simple and effective.

7. Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser £24.99 Feel Unique:  http://www.feelunique.com/p/Antipodes-Juliet-Skin-Brightening-Gel-Cleanser-200ml

WHY? I am having a real love affair with Antipodes at the moment (more info on that coming soon). They are an all natural skincare line from New Zealand that contains a load of lovely ingredients, but mainly Manuka Honey – which is excellent for blemishes as it is antibacterial. This cleanser is brown in colour and smells like green apples. It is lightly foaming but contains no SLS. I use this every morning and sometimes as a second cleanse in the evening. A little goes a long way and it is SO refreshing and lovely – I think this might be here to stay!

8. Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads £6.49 Boots

WHY? These are a revelation! I’ve spoken in the past about how my skin doesn’t really respond to glycolic acid very well, but it loves these! If you’re a fan of Pixi Glow Tonic or Alpha H Liquid Gold but want something more affordable then these are amazing. Pre-soaked pads that are rough on one side but smooth on the other. I use one pad every night over a cleansed face and follow with La Roche Posay Serozinc spray and then my normal nighttime routine. The scars from my spots/cystic acne a month or so ago have definitely faded slightly and the texture of my skin is a lot more smooth and soft.

Coming up next are my makeup favourites for July. I hope these have been interesting and useful .. if you buy one thing, I’d say the S&G Body Wash, the Nip + Fab Pads and the Antipodes Juliet Cleanser.

Thanks for reading! It’s nice to be back! 🙂
